Saucy Books is officially one year old — and I just wanted to say THANK YOU!
This time last year, I was opening the doors with a big dream, a lot of nerves, and a question I heard more than once: does a romance-only bookshop really have a place?
One year later, I can confidently say the answer is YES. And it’s all thanks to you!
In just twelve months, so much has happened. Saucy has expanded shops, been shortlisted as one of Britain’s best independent bookshops, launched four book clubs, hosted more events than I can count, gathered hundreds of readers for watch parties, book launches, author talks, welcomed tens of thousands of amazing customers through the doors, connected with romance readers all over the world, and somehow found itself on every news outlet imaginable from Cosmo and CNN, to BCBC and Der Spiegel.
But the thing I’m most proud of isn’t the press, or the shortlist, or the milestones — it’s the feeling inside Saucy and the community we’ve created.
It’s the way readers recommend books to strangers.
The way people come to events alone and leave with new friends.
The way the Clubhouse has become its own little world.
The way everyone has made this shop feel welcoming, joyful, and deeply loved.

The skepticism around whether romance deserved a space of its own now feels very far away. This community has shown, again and again, that romance readers are powerful, generous, funny, loyal, passionate, and incredibly good at building something magical together.
Thank you for supporting me this past year! Whether you bought books from Saucy, came to an event, joined a book club, sent messages, brought friends, posted photos, or trusted my recommendations — it made Saucy feel like so much more than a bookshop.
It has been the most extraordinary first year, and I feel so lucky that I get to keep building Saucy with you. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!
